Coastal French Powder Room, Stage 2: Update old mirror with chalk paint & new lighting
From the waist up, this Coastal French powder room was starting to look the part. After painting the walls, I decided to update an old mirror with Annie Sloan chalk paint in Duck Egg Blue, then seal it with dark wax instead of clear to maintain some of its drama. If you’re looking to try out chalk painting, this sort of project is perfect. It’s a quick process, and the stakes are low — just an old mirror that would’ve otherwise ended up at Goodwill. It went from being a mirror I tolerated to one I loved … a magic bullet for updating old mirrors — I painted two more in quick succession!
We added new lighting, too, which skews more farmhouse/industrial than French, but those curves keep it interesting! Sometimes you just love something, and that’s ok!
