JOIE DE VIVRE: Ceramic Berry Holder
The Paris 2024 Olympics have put the red, white, and blue (or if you’re French, blue white and red!) front and center again. At breakfast this morning, that thought made these lovely, perfect wonders of creation known as berries stand out to me.
Gorgeous and delicious as they are, what I want to bring to your attention is the sweet little ceramic berry holder they’re in! It’s made to look like the pressed paperboard ones you see at the berry patch. So vintage, so cute!
I bought mine at a little coffee shop a few years ago, but several outlets sell them now in a variety of colors and even prints. Naturally, I couldn’t decide which one to get so I bought two: a white one, and the classic green. When one isn’t busy draining berries, I use the other to hold sponges in our very deep sink!
Now, I’m not going to tell you they drain perfectly empty. I put my hand over it and tip/shake … it’s good enough for my worn kitchen table. Sometimes I pop a napkin under it. My husband doesn’t like to use them. But he doesn’t wear high heels either. Some things you just put up with because they’re cute. (I’d like to think he understands this concept because he’s got me, HA HA)
Snag one of those cute Swedish dishcloths, and slide it into one of these berry holders — together, they’d make an adorable host gift or sweet summer birthday gift!
